In math, a number placed above and to the right of another number indicating the number of time that number should be multiplied by itself. For example the number three with an exponent of two, indicates that three should be multiplied by itself two times. 32 = 3 × 3 = 9 The exponent is also called the power the number is raised to. Negative exponents indicate that a number should be multiplied by one over itself which is the same as dividing. en
